Privacy Policy
How TPF handles information.
Last updated: 7 November 2026
About this policy
The Pioneer Forest (TPF) is an independent, community-driven environmental initiative within the Pi Network ecosystem, operated by egal42. This policy applies to the TPF website, associated applications, direct Pi contributions, environmental records and Partner Pools. Privacy enquiries: egal42.pi@gmail.com.
Information handled
Depending on the activity, TPF may handle authenticated Pi usernames; payment IDs, transaction IDs, wallet addresses, amounts, memos and statuses; contribution and allocation records; voluntary messages; and limited security and technical information. Pi sign-in does not ordinarily provide TPF with Pi KYC identity documents. TPF never requests wallet passphrases or private keys.
Purposes and legal bases
Information is used to operate services, authenticate users, verify transactions, maintain environmental and participation records, answer enquiries, prevent abuse and comply with applicable obligations. Depending on the processing, the legal basis may be performance of an agreement (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)), legitimate interests in secure and reliable operation (Art. 6(1)(f)), legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c)), or consent for optional uses (Art. 6(1)(a)).
In-app payments and direct transfers
For payments made through the TPF Pi app, payment records can be associated with the authenticated Pi username. The Pioneer Forest Project app currently uses Pi Testnet; separate direct wallet contributions already occur on Mainnet. A direct blockchain transfer does not itself establish a verified Pi username. TPF does not automatically publish a username together with a wallet address.
The Pioneer Forest FairFun
FairFun uses your Pi username and Pi account ID to verify your sign-in and show your progress. Netlify hosts FairFun and stores its session records and progress. An essential browser cookie links your browser to your sign-in session. A signed-in session expires after two hours of inactivity. Signing out clears the cookie and ends the session.
FairFun saves your points and completed activities by date under a hashed version of your Pi account ID, so you can return to your progress. Progress records are kept while needed to operate the preview and preserve progress. For questions or a deletion request, use the contact in the Your rights section below.
Pi Network handles authentication. When you play a film hosted on Cloudflare, your browser connects to Cloudflare to retrieve it.
Transparency and public records
TPF publishes environmental records and verification links, which may include transaction references, certificates and voluntarily provided attribution. Blockchain transactions are publicly visible independently of TPF. Public blockchain records cannot normally be erased by TPF. Public attribution or account-to-wallet disclosure beyond what is necessary for the service should be optional and clearly explained.
Service providers and transfers
Relevant third parties may include Pi Network, website and application hosting providers, blockchain infrastructure and environmental providers such as Tree-Nation. Their own terms and privacy practices may apply. Processing outside the European Economic Area may occur; applicable transfer safeguards must be assessed for the actual providers used.
Storage and retention
TPF aims to minimize production logs and retain information only for as long as necessary for its purpose, including applicable transaction and recordkeeping obligations. Temporary technical logs should be kept shorter than records required for payment verification or legal compliance. Browser storage may be used for session information and local activity history. Consent will be requested for non-essential cookies or similar technologies where required.
Your rights
Where the GDPR applies, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of personal data, object to certain processing, and withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. Rights may be limited by applicable law and immutable blockchain records. You may complain to a competent data protection authority. Contact egal42.pi@gmail.com.
Updates
This policy may be updated as TPF services develop. The latest version will appear on this page.
