How TPF works, what the figures mean, and where to check them.
The Pioneer Forest is a community-driven reforestation initiative operating within the Pi Network ecosystem.
It is an independent project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Pi Core Team.
TPF records contributions and planting, shares the proof, and keeps the history available.
How Impact Is Created
Pi contributions help fund tree planting through independent providers such as Tree-Nation.
TPF chooses planting based on available projects, species, costs and the purpose of each contribution or pool.
Tree-Nation supplies planting records and estimates of expected CO₂ capture. Those estimates describe capture over time; they do not mean that all the CO₂ has already been removed.
Public Rules & Figures
The current general minimum is 20 kg of estimated CO₂ capture per Pi contributed. Partner Pools are agreed individually through an offer; this minimum does not automatically apply to them. Products show their backing in the product details.

Tree-Nation’s current CO₂ calculations cover up to ten years of growth. Actual capture happens gradually and depends on the trees and site conditions. TPF uses “CO₂ capture” for these estimates and “CO₂ backing” for the values assigned to pools and products. A reward record is not automatically a formal carbon credit.

The Pioneer Forest maintains a public record of activity through multiple channels:

- External planting certificates where available
- Public blockchain transaction records
These records let you follow a contribution and check the planting behind it. A planting certificate documents the planting and its stated CO₂ estimate; it does not by itself prove that capture is complete.
Funding Model
The Pioneer Forest operates primarily through voluntary Pi contributions.
Contributions are not investments and do not grant ownership, financial returns, or decision-making rights.
Funds support planting and the work needed to keep TPF running.
What The Pioneer Forest Does Not Provide
- No ownership of trees or land
- No investment or financial product
- No guaranteed returns
- No legal claim over planted sites
Independence
TPF coordinates funding and keeps the records.
Planting providers plant and manage the forests and supply planting records.
TPF manages its website, accounting and public updates.
Verification
Pi transactions can be verified through the Pi Block Explorer .
External planting activity can be reviewed through the Tree-Nation profile .
